1.0.About The Game
******************
Another World Memory is a classic memory game with graphic from
Another World.

You can look up for the original Another World game(if you haven't
played it before) with www.freeoldies.com search engine.

A.W.Memory plays like any other memory game.

In A.W.Memory you can play in 3 modes, against human or CPU opponent or
in solo mode, where you need to finish the game in least number of
turns or in least amount of time.

Also you can choose to play on different sizes of field and with
different backgrounds.

A.W.Memory is completely coded in QBasic 4.5 using Rellib,an ASM
library by R.E.Lope.

This game is FREEWARE.

2.0.Running The Game
********************
You run the game with AWMEM.EXE.This game requires XMS memory.

If you are using MS-DOS,Win95 or Win98 you shouldn't have any
problems running it.

If you are running it from Windows 2000 or Windows XP you NEED to
allocate XMS memory! How?

You must create a shortcut to AWMEM.EXE and modify it.
Just right click on AWMEM.EXE and create a shortcut.
Then right click on the shortcut, access properties, and inside the
memory menu edit the amount of XMS to maximum offered.

I apologize to those who know all about creating shortcuts but not
all people know how to do that.

2.1.Requirements
****************
You need a 286 or higher,MS-DOS or any version of WINDOWS.

2.2.How To Play
***************
The rules of the game are badly explained in ABOUT on game main menu.
It's a very intuitive game.If you don't know how to play a memory
game from before you''ll learn it just in few moves.

4.0.Designer rambling 'bout making this game
********************************************
Well, during the christmas hollydays I planed to do some work on the
LONG and create a complete mini RPG named Favorite Son.Soon I
realized that this was a dumb idea since time flew so fast as I worked
on LONG.Coding an adventure game can be very draining and it completely
exhaused me.Did a lot of work on it thought.Finished save/load game
routines, drawed 2 new scenes, polished most of the exsisting scenes and
coded about 60% of the game.

Anyway, after I packed the stuff I done with the LONG Favorite Son became
a canceled project. It's was just something too large, and I had practicly
no graphic done.Mini RPG contests are just not for me.

How did Another World Memory game idea came to my mind? I'm not sure.
It just happened. And I was happy with the stuff I came up with.
Not so many people know about Another World so I often try to convince
people to play it,and using it's graphic in a memory game sounded
great to me.Ripping the Another World GFX wasn't that easy as I thought. One
screen capture programm I had didn't worked and luckily I had another one
on one floppy disk.If I didn't have it you wouldn't see this game.
Also combining images with different palettes gave me few problems
since I don't have cool image editing progamms.

Before I wanted even to start to code I had to have all the GFX.
The backgrounds, the cards converted in PUT format, main menu, cursors and
the fonts.

When it was done I jumped on the coding.I had a pretty good plan.First
make the main menu and options. This is the best way to code.Don't test.
Just plan good and do it all in proper order.

Anyway when I done that I made the variable initiation sub which had
to include ALL the parameters from options. Then I created point
and click routines.Just in few lines I solved the core of the problem.
I was happy. The rest of the work was just the usuall logical coding which
I enjoy so much.Coding the game modes, player switching and card turning
routines. On the end I spiced it all with few things that I didn't planned
on the begining of the game like AI and few extra sizes of the field.

All in all I am very happy with the game.Despite the fact that I created it
in record time(I won't tell how many days) it's a pretty good game.I mean,
I love it myself. It's almost my most favorite game I created so far.
And I don't feel bad for the ripped graphic. It's done with purpose,as
a tribute to Another World.

Game could use few more backgrounds and posibly music from Another World
(I leave this last as a possible option) but I just thought that 4
backgrounds were enough.Didn't wanted to go overboard.

It all depends on how much you like a memory game.If you do,this could
be something you'll keep.

Anyway,enough rambling.
